Greetings,Thank you for your question.I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.Which part of the pinky finger is swollen and red?Can you send picture?Did you try any medicine?
I was waiting for your reply. There can be infection. If it near nail bed, paronychia can be possible. You may not be aware of minor injury.Infection can develop from minor crack in the nail bed.You may need incision and drainage.Oral and/ or local prescription antibiotic can be needed.Warm moist compression, OTC neosporin ointment can be tried till you see doctor. If the pain is too much, Motrin can be taken.I hope this information will be helpful. If you have any query, please feel free to ask.If you are happy with my answer please click on the Excellent/Good rating. Wish your healthy life.Regards.
I have already wrote about warm, moist compression.
Incision & drainage have already been advised.
