Customer Question
My one year old boy...
My one year old boy had an ear infection on December 15 and was given antibiotics. Since then he has been sick every 5-6 days. Cough, runny nose, snoring, red swollen not itching eye, 104.6 fevers that come down with meds but go right back up. He was given a rocephin shot Tuesday for an ear infection plus oral antibiotics. Yesterday his fever was back up to 104.4. Today he was given another rocephin shot. He also tested negative for flu, strep, and rsv. We have an appointment with an ENT tomorrow. I feel like something is being missed for him to keeping getting sick as soon as the antibiotics stop working. This week his fever went up 5 days after shot and while still on oral antibiotics. I was wondering if you have any other ideas for me to bring up at the doctor?

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
There can be a few cause.
Repeated viral infection can occur.
There can be collection of fluid in middle ear.
The bacteria may not be sensitive to the antibiotic.
You can discuss those points with the ENT doctor.
Blood count, examination of throat can be taken.
If doctor feels necessary, he can go for imaging studies.
I hope this information will be helpful.
If you have any query, please feel free to ask.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
