Customer Question

13 month old girl with known egg allergy was provided a teaspoon of cow milk in late November after 1st birthday. No reaction. Milk dose was gradually increased over course of month to 4 oz however significant rash on neck and face developed. Was also teething and received the mmr vaccine over same perIod of time.Milk level reduced to zero and then gradually increased again to 1 ounce. Facial and neck rash has improved. Child still teething.Milk increased to 2 ounces today and facial rash flared.Seems to spit up 1-2 times per day, but does not when no cow milk given. Spit up is watery. Not chunky. Also only when baby bends over does this seem to occur. Can be hours after cow milk exposure. No vomitting, diarrhea or fever. No other observable systemic issues. Is it possible that she is allergic to milk but does not show symptoms unless milk over certain level? Could it just be from teething or perhaps something else?Waiting to get skin allergy test but allergist is backed up.

Hello, Allergy reaction occurs even with minute amount and does not have any threshold level. May be she has some issue with upper stomach valve joining food-pipe. Please also confirm any allergy issue with blood test. If found, desensitizing may be attempted. Vaccine being live one, may cause some rash.

Good luck to her.
