My son suffers from what seems to be anxiety/activity

Customer Question

My son suffers from what seems to be anxiety/activity induced GERD. When taking his Prevacid regularly there seems to be no issue but recently have had some break through episodes where he is throwing up/spitting up in garbage can or bathroom. He can hold it till he gets to this location, but sometimes cannot. He had some issues with school/anxiety types of situations in which this happened. His pediatrician does not think it is severe enough yet to do an endoscopy; should this be pursued with a psychologist or wait and see how he does on the medication. Is there something else he could take that would be better for a 10 year old.

Greetings,
Thank you for your question.
I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
As you know that he has an anxiety issue in the school, it is better to talk with a psychologist simultaneously.
Continue the GERD medicine.
Try to give frequent small food so that he may not vomit.
Avoid fried, spicy food.
Give him adequate fluid to keep him well hydrated.
I hope this information will be helpful.
