My 23 months old daughter can not comprehend what we are

Customer Question

My 23 months old daughter can not comprehend what we are saying. She is also unable to speak words...not even mama, papa. Can not respond to her name frequently either. Super-active, like to hold things (pencil, pen, straw etc). Seems pre-occupied. On
the other hand she can recognize all the alphabets, numbers 1-20, can name them by seeing block. Also try to sing with rhymes. I am concerned if its ASD related or delayed growth/speaking. Should we wait few more months before going to specialist. And what
we can do to improve her speaking ability? Thanks,

Hi, Sorry about this problem. If she can mix with other kids and play normally, there is no problem like ASD. Also point to things.

Please persist with talking to her, breaking down your instructions into several parts. If she needs something, do not respond fast to her gestures but act dumb and insist that she vocalizes her need. By 3 years age if she does not utter few words, and small sentences please see a speech therapist.
