Customer Question

My son (4.5 years) breaks out in these spots. He has since he was 1. They seem to last weeks each time he breaks out. They fade, then reappear elsewhere. They also itch him sometimes. Cortisone creams not helping :-(

They cover his entire body, from hair to feet. I have photos too.

This is Dr. David

they look like hives from allergies he could have to food or they could be eczema

he needs to see an allergy doctor and get skin testing to see what he might be allergic to

he might benefit from skin biopsy to help find out what is wrong.

you should keep a food diary for him and see if certain foods could be causing his rash.

common foods like diary, gluten, peanuts, preservatives, strawberries, pinapples, milk, can sometimes cause allergies which can manifest on the skin.

let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks.Do hives last weeks and disappear and reappear in other areas? These episodes usually last weeks last time was 6 weeks. He has other medical issues inc, platelet function disorder, fatty liver and ketotic hypoglycaemia.Could these relate to the spots?

hives can come and go if he is allergic to something in his environment

sometimes skin rashes can also be manifestations of internal inflammation in the body.

it sounds like he has other medical conditions which can cause inflammation in the body.

this can often manifest as a skin rash as well.
