Customer Question

My 8 year old son has slightly high AST level in a recent blood test. The blood test was done due to severe abdominal pain and nausea he has been experiencing. What does a high AST level mean and what should our next step be? His pediatrician also mentioned in our last visit that he is not developing on target. He is not losing weight, but his chart does not show him to be developing on target.

Hello, Sorry about this illness. Exact diagnosis may be arrived from localizing pain to a specific area of abdomen.

Please attach other reports as a photo (snap) using paper-clip like icon.

AST level is raised in liver conditions and some other illnesses. A sonography test may also help throw some light.
