Customer Question

Son recieved 1st set of vaccinations yesterday around 10am. He started running a fever yesterday afternoon. We have been administering Tylenol every 4 to 5 hours. Its been almost 4 hours again and his fever is 101.6. Should we continue with the Tylenol? It seems to only be keeping it down for a very short period. We are using a rectal thermometer.

I am Dr. Su S. and I will try my best to help you.
You can give tepid warm sponging.
Please continue with Tylenol.
It can be repeated but not more than 5 times in 24 hours.
I hope this information will be helpful.

Should I swaddle him? That's how he normally sleeps, but he's so hot already. At what temperature should I be concerned?
Expert:  Dr. Su S. replied 2 years ago.
If you can not reduce the temperature with Tylenol or sponging, this temperature is high enough to take him to doctor.
If it better to keep him open. This will help in heat loss. Give him light dress.
