My 3 year old ate too many gummy vitamins yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't think a lot about it at the time, but tonight he started vomiting. He does not have a fever and now he is sleeping, but now I'm really worried about him because he rarely vomits. Do you think I should take him in to the ER?

Dr. Leah : Hello and thank you for your question. How many vitamins did he take? If he took more than 1 or 2 extra, you should definitely take him to the emergency room. The most concerning thing would be too much Vitamin A ingestion, which can cause a condition called pseudotumor cerebri. This is a temporary increase in intracranial pressure that can cause headaches and vomiting. If your son only took 1 or 2 extra vitamins, he may be just vomiting from a stomach ache but should otherwise be fine. In this case, I would recommend refraining from giving him the vitamins for a few days. Hope this helps!
