Hello.Staph bacteria tend to be there in the nasal passages in recurrent staph infections..The use of Mupirocin/Fusidic acid 2% ointment available on prescription locally applied in nostrils 3 times daily by separate cotton swabs in each nostril regularly for 5-7 days will help cure the carrier state.Bathing and washing with chlorhexidine soap of the body and body folds including armpits and groin will be required.Cleaning and vacuuming all horizontal surfaces in the house will help.Use of oral Rifampicin/vancomycin may be considered by your doctor if the boils persist even after the use of Mupirocin.Immunity lowering diseases like Diabetes and Hepatitis B should be ruled out .Sharing of towels needs to be avoided.Contact with any other person having staph infection should be avoided.

This infection is always around her labida m. And this time it is much worse than last time.

The staph needs to be cultured and drug sensitivity needs to be done so as to identify the best and most appropriate antibiotics. The culture should be taken after 3 days without antibiotics and antiseptics. She needs to take the antibiotic for at least 2-4 weeks if the infection is recurrent. The child will have a weak immune system due to her age ,her treatment should be done by her paediatrician in consultation with her dermatologist.

Wh is the infection in the crotch area and no where else? I keep her very clean, and change her often.

The area of the groin is naturally warm, sweaty and moist and is thus most susceptible to infections.Rubbing together of the skin folds also macerates the skin in this area. This makes the area susceptible to bacterial infections.Low immunity in toddlers and persistence of bacteria on skin also makes matters worse.
