Resolved Question:

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has a 103.5 temperature (armpit reading). Is this serious enough for an ER visit? Or what should I do?

Hello J C,

Sorry about her condition.

If she is otherwise comfortable and not toxic looking, taking fluids and solids as before, you need not rush her to ER but try home remedies like tylenol, motrin syrups and also sponging with wet towel her body.

You could wait for 2-3 days for the fever to respond with these measures and take her to your doctor after that, or earlier if she develops other major symptoms like severe headache, vomiting, diarrhea, fits etc.
