Whats the best way to handle a tween boys inability to respond

Resolved Question:

What's the best way to handle a tween boy's inability to respond to initial requests (e.g. take out the garbage, clean your room, etc.)? wh

Make a deal with him. Tell him that he will get a salary for doing his work. If he responds when you ask the first time you will give him a higher salary (i.e., 25 cents for taking garbage out, $1-2 for cleaning room.) But if not, he will get the lower salary (i.e., 10 cents for garbage and 50 cents for cleaning room). If he does not respond by 3rd request, he gets no salary but he must still do the task.

If you can, give him one forewarning: "I am going to ask you to take out the garbage in 15 minutes".

Hope this works for your family.
