Customer Question

Lisfranc injury: I had surgery on 6/25 and am currently still NWB for 2 more weeks. I had a surgical wound infection (superficial) that I took antibiotics for. Yesterday I noticed this bump on foot about one inch below interior ankle bone. It doesn't hurt
to touch it but you can feel it is a bump. What could it be?

I am an Orthopaedic surgeon and I would be happy to help you today.

How does the bump feel when you touch it? Is it soft to touch or firm or hard?

Is it tender to touch?

Thanks for replying .

Most likely this is a collection of fluid coming from either one of the injured joints or from sheath of a tendon passing through the area.

You should just observe it and you need to have a doctor look at it if it becomes painful or increases in size.

You may use a compression bandage like an ace bandage over it.
