Customer Question

I had a stroke in Aug 2014, my left side was paralyzed with therapy, exercise and acupuncture I have progressed a lot. I can walk but with a limp it doesn't seem to get better now. Should I see an orthopedics specialist for an operation to straighten my leg and foot out?

Neurological improvement after a stroke is usually the most in the first weeks and months after the event.
Some continued neurological improvement may be seen for up to 6 months after a stroke.
Beyond six months you are not likely to see further neurological improvement but some improvement in other ways such as strength or balance with physical therapy may be realized.
From your question I would guess that the affected side may be affected with contractures and these might be improved with surgical intervention by an orthopedic surgeon.
I hope that this is helpful to you. I shall also present offer for phone conversation.Best Regards!
