How do you know if you have lung cancer

Customer Question

How do you know if you have lung cancer

The most effective imaging is high resolution CT scan./

This detects lung cancer earlier than x ray.

If you are not a smoker, lung cancer is very unlikely./

OK, so you might have more questions or want to give me more information: Please use reply to expert if you have further questions. When you are ready, please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent—that’s how we are paid, per rating]. If you forgot something, come back. I am here

Thanks for this question

Sometimes, in early stages there are no symptoms

Later stages can present with chronic cough, coughing with blood production, shortness of breath and chest pain

The symptoms are very non specific usually.

However, if you have risk factors for lung cancer you need imaging like a chest xray

In fact recent studies have shown that even with a negative x ray, CT will detect nodules.

It saves lives.

Talk with your doctor about this.

Not necessarily at all.

But you don't have it?

So clearly there are other problems here.

In any case. You might or might not have a cough.
