I. Have a question about my grandma's cancer diagnosis. By
have a question about my grandma's cancer diagnosis. By way of background, she got diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at 79 years old. She is being treated at houston methodist cancer center and was enrolled in a clinical trial. Unfortunately, because of the of treatment and her weakened immune system, she kept developing side effects that had to halt the treatment, ultimately making her AML worse. So, they switched her to a different treatment, and now, it is neither making her AML worse or better. I havent been able to get a super straight answer from my family members as they are in Houston and I am in college in New York, so I was just wondering and curious if keeping the cancer at the same level is considered remission and how long that can sustain her? … read more

How to get oncology questions answered

Some of the concerns already dealt with by oncology Experts on JustAnswer include:

  • I have just seen a urologist who was concerned that I may have penile cancer, but I cannot find a physician near me.
  • Once you start radiation therapy at one facility, is it a problem to complete it somewhere else?
  • Is it normal to run a fever after radiation of the lumbar spine and hips? Is there any connection?
  • What other organs could develop cancer due to over-exposure to radiation or extensive chemotherapy?

Before asking the experts for guidance, have the following information ready:

  • Your last doctor visit, and any medicine you’re taking
  • Your symptoms, as well as any remedies that have helped
  • Anything important from your medical history

Having relevant information ready will allow the experts to better assist you. The more you can provide, the better.
