Most of the warning lights in the instrument cluster turn on

Customer Question

Most of the warning lights in the instrument cluster turn on when cutting the steering wheel to either side after backing out of the garage or a parking stall to begin moving forward. If we shut the car off and restart, the lights don't come back on. This does not happen every time, but fairly often. The car runs fine and everything else works well.
JA: Do you have power steering? Have you checked the power steering fluid?
Customer: Yes we have power steering...I can check the steering fluid. Can low fluid cause this?
JA: What is the model/year of your Oldsmobile?
Customer: 2003 GLS with about 105,000 miles.
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I do a lot of my own work and have a factory service manual, but unfortunately no scan tool. I really don't know where to start and intermittent problems are such a pain. We also have security light on most of the time and sometimes have to do the 10 minute reset to start the car....this started recently and maybe around the same time as the other problem.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I think that covers it.

Okay, we need to start with this attachment for resetting the security system. If this does not work, it needs to be addressed with a scan tool. this is most likely causing all these issues.

Thanks, Ron
