the ECM data link probe, message keeps flashing, what type of part is this
JA: What year is your Probe?
Customer: It is not a prob, it's a 92 Olds
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I don't even know where to start. If this is a sensor I can probably do it myself
JA: Which particular sensor are you asking about? And have any trouble codes been triggered?
Customer: the "ECM Data Link prob"

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

It sounds as if you're seeing a warning message indicating there is a bus communication issue with the engine controller. This could be the controller itself or a bus communication problem. If the bus network shorts to power or ground due to a wiring issue or internal failure in a module it will prevent communication.

Do you have a full capability scan tool and the ability to do electrical testing?
Do other warning lights come on when this happens?
Does the engine continue to run?
