Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do my best to help you with your Oldsmobile problem.

The crank sensor is located on the side of the block. The starter must be removed for access.

i'll hit accept, but have a related question. at 4000 rpm the engine speed drops 500 then climbs back up to 4000. is this motor governed at 4000 or do i still have a related crank sensor problem. after changeout the computor didn't send any codes thus i think the engine is overned at 4000? any thoughts?
The computer does govern the speed to 4000 rpm. The drop in rpm is normal.
