My scanner keeps showing...

My scanner keeps showing black lines coming down my documents when they are loaded on the tray. Brother Printer is the MFC-L67000W

Technician's Assistant: Can you guesstimate how old your Brother is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?

Less than 1 year old (purchased in April). Model is the MFC-67000W

Technician's Assistant: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?

PC using Windows 7 Professional

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?

This issue has persisted for over a month. I tried cleaning the tray and feeder but they keep coming back and are getting worse.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Printer Expert to know before I connect you?

Other connectivity issues have occurred as well, causing issues with printing and scanning.

Place a one-page document face-down on the scanner glass, please, and run a scan or photocopy of that - does that lack lines?

- If so, you can fix it yourself, as follows, I think -it is worth a try!:

Take a fresh paper towel, and moisten it with warm water a little. Rub the narrower strip of glass to the left, firmly, many times over, with the moistened paper towel. Some black fleck or flakes should come off onto the paper towel. Then wipe clean and dry with dry paper towel, before the glass strip on the left dries.

Then try scanning or photocopying again.
