What symptoms are you having?

The 'L means that the battery backup is low.
Is the power supply connected?
Ok, you will need to replace the backup battery and also check the mains power supply.
After replacing the battery you will need to restart the cash register:
Turn the machine OFF, by unplugging it from the power source.Leave it off for 10 minutes.Plug it back in.Turn it on. Wait for it to initialize.Try using it again.

For memory back up, 3 x ULM-3 batteries are needed.
When the low battery symbol "L" lights up, batteries (3 pieces) exchange by the following method:
1) Power on the cash register.
2) Turn the MODE SW to "OP X/Z" mode.
3) Remove the OLD dry batteries (3 pieces).
4) Insert the NEW dry batteries (3 pieces).
5) Confirm the low battery symbol "L" lights off.

How long was it displaying the L for?
Was there a recent power outage or thunderstorm?
