I am 51 years old. Last menstruation was in April/May/June
I am 51 years old. Last menstruation was in April/May/June 2019. In 2015, I experienced very heavy bleeding almost all the time. I was passing big clots. The clotting stopped after a couple of months, but the heavy bleeding remained most of the time for about 3 years. I started taking dimpro and another herbal female hormone balancer, got my iron levels up, and stayed hydrated. This helped me to end the nonstop heavy bleeding. I stopped bleeding almost completely, with just sporadic spotting or a very light bleed for a couple of days. In May/June 2018, I experienced light menstruation. Again in fall, I experienced light menstruation. I stopped taking the dimpro and herbal supplement in november 2018. And in April/May/June of this year I had a light period. At the time of my heavy bleeding, my OB/GYN did endometrial biopsy which was clear. She had suggested a procedure during which she would scrape out my uterine lining. I chose not to do it. Three weeks ago, I had a pap smear, also clear. I started to worry that perhaps I'm at risk for some sort of cancer since I didn't do the scraping procedure in 2017/2018. My OB/GYN spent about 1 minute in the room with me recently and I didn't get to have a dialogue with her. I'm wondering if I should have another endometrial biopsy to double check that all is well in there, or if the lack of bleeding and clear pap suggest that I've moved into menopause and I shouldn't be too concerned. I was thinking that the pap only indicates the health of the cells of the cervix - not the uterus. Thanks for you input on this. … read more
