I am 50 years old...
I am 50 years old. For approx 6 months I have had pinkish vaginal spotting between periods which oddly begins after I have a bowel movement. I am certain the spotting/bleeding isn't coming from my rectum. I also have urgency to urinate and occasional itching. I've been treated for bladder infections (after finding out that i didn't have bladder infections after all) and vaginal yeast infections which i haven't noticed any improvement. Wondering what this could be. Suggestions please..

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question

Dear customer

Thank you for being online.

The symptoms you have described of having pinkish vaginal spotting between periods is most likely due to pperi menopausal syndrome (PMS). The pressure from bowel movement may cause strain & hence the bleeding/spotting may begin.

Women normally go through perimenopause between ages 45 and 55.Menopause officially occurs when you have not had a period for one year.

Your symptoms are suggestive of peri-menoapuse.

In the coming months, you may notice some more changes in your periods like irregularity or light period or missed periods. These are normal changes due to hormonal changes of menstrual cycle before they completely stopped due to menopause.

So you may notice these & other changes for next few of your cycles. The treatment varies from estrogen and progesterone therapy, oral contraceptive pills, local (vaginal) hormone treatments,Antidepressant medications, plant estrogens (phytoestrogens, isoflavones.Eat healthy & nurtrious.Take nutrious diet containing good amount of iron, calcium, magnesium, multivitamins.

There is nothing to worry or of concern here.

If you have major discomfort, then these above described medications can be be prescribed by your doctor accordingly.

Thank you

Please leave positive rating above the chat box so I can get credit for helping you today ,we only get after positive feedback.
