How old is the patient that has the fibrocystic breasts?

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
40
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

It's unlikely that fibrocystic disease would worsen neuralgia unless that pain was immediately under the breast and not in the more classic areas such as the lower end of the rib cage.

Lyme disease in later stages can cause a very large breadth of neurologic changes and so it would be safe to assume that it could cause irregular periods as well.

Neurological changes can cause irregular periods ? I had my hormone panel done it came back great. Also no cysts .. I have been having a burning sensation in my back and ribs the pain worsens before my period and now periods have become irregular. What would cause periods to become irregular ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Yes, your intestines and your reproductive organs have their own pathways in the nervous system which is why patients with MS, ALS, parkinson's and other neurologic diseases can develop change in their menses.

I did have an injury in the middle of my chest right next to the sternum,.. this is when this started
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Your periods can become irregular for a few reasons such as hormonal changes. Any chance you are perimenopausal? That can be tested with an FSH blood test.

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

If your periods are strong enough then they can cause back pain but rarely pain in the ribs area.

Do you think the injury to the lower back has made your muscles more sensitive? That could explain why the periods are causing more pain. During this time you retain more water and it can make already sensitive areas more painful.

Customer reply replied 7 months ago
Was tested for FSH cane back great. There not painful periods .. just irregular. MS ALS and Parkinson can change the periods ? Would the hormone panel be off ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

No, the hormone panel would still come up normal with those neurologic diseases. But of course you would have the symptoms of those diseases and your lyme titers would be elevated.

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
Lyme titers ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

To check for Lyme disease we do blood tests to see if the Lyme titres are elevated.

But those are the only numerological diseases that could cause more freguent periods ? MS , ALS, Parkinson and Lyme ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Those are the main ones. End stage syphilis can also cause it but it's very rare to see that in the US.

If there is no cause based on sonogram and hormone panel. I should look into these causes , being that I have the burning sensation ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Irregular periods rarely have a cause in women and can sometimes be a normal part of hormonal fluctuations even if the blood tests are all negative. I doubt you had such severe neurologic diseases, they would have to be pretty advanced for you to have side effects from them.

However, I would check those Lyme titers, that's a good start.

I had a full blood work done in May that came back great . My symptoms started in August and than I had the injury. My symptoms have come to sudden .. irregular periods , fatigue , burning sensations my body feels like it’s on fire with no temp . Are these symptoms of Lyme ? I swear I was bite by sonethinh in August but I don’t remember getting a rash and not sure it was a tick
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Could your body be having an allergic reaction to something?

Do you take any over the counter supplements that maybe isn't sitting well with you?

Any new stressors that could be causing the burning sensation or fatigue?

And also, finally, your diet, could it be that you are developing an allergy to a certain food that you normally tolerated in the past?

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
Hmm I will look into it ... it just all came on sudden , usually with something serious you get little hints .. I was perfectly healthy before August. These are not symptoms of Lyme ?Ps last question
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

I don't think so. It doesn't seem like symptoms of lyme. I still get the feeling that it's something benign but it's really good that you are taking it seriously and investigating all the options, that's very important.

Feel free to ask me anything else, I'm here for you.

What could be cancerous? I also had the swollen knee
Brain tumors would cause a lot headaches ? I had digital X-rays of my spine and legs .. both where clear
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

Based on what you have said nothing seems cancerous or surely something in your blood work would have been off or your exam would have revealed something and you wouldn't just get irregular bleeding but intense and constant bleeding.

Brain tumors could cause a headache but that would be a constant and daily worsening headache.

Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
I don’t have any headaches ..
one last question. - I’m having the HSV type 1,2 IGM &IGG to rule out shingles without a rash ... does the IGG pick up a clue to Lyme ?
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

No, unfortunately the IgG and IgM antibodies are specific to HSV only and won't tell us much about the lyme disease.
