I have a few more questions to ask, is that ok?
How far along in the pregnancy were you when you ate the steaks?
its very, very unlikely that the steak was:infected with toxoplasmosis AND even if infected, that you would contract it from a medium rare steak.
you would have a higher risk of toxo from cleaning out cat litter box, since that is most common risk
There is a blood panel called a TORCH test that is done in pregnancy and it tests for toxoplasmosis and other diseases such as german measles, CMV and herpes virus. Its usually done only if the woman has symptoms because these infections are uncommon in the U.S.
Again, highly unlikely you contracted toxoplasmosis from medium rare steaks that would then pass onto your baby, but if you want reassurance, you can speak to your ob/gyn about ordered that test.Does that help answer your question and concerns?
Here is some information from Medscape on how rare congenital toxoplasmosis is in the U.S. The article states only about 400 child born in the US every year (out of 4 million births every year)http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/771145_3
