Hello , Dr Saleem here. Welcome to JA. Would you mind telling when did you have your last period before this bleeding episode.

Expert:  Dr.Saleem replied 9 months ago.

We call it post menopausal bleed if there is any bleeding episode after 55 years / cessation of normal menstrual cycles in a female. There can be a few reasons to it, a few are mentioned as follows;

1.Thinning of vaginal lining due to drop in natural estrogen levels leading to fragile vaginal wall causing bleed.

2.An abnormal growth e.g polyp or tumor etc

3.Thickened wall due to excessive hormone replacement.

I would recommend the following tests;

1.Detailed gynecological exam

2.Ultrasound Pevis

3.A camera test (hysteroscopy)
