Customer Question

I was on birth control since my early 20's now I am 50. My doctor took me off birth control on January. I have not had a cycle since January and now I have one. I just don't know if this is normal.
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: No cycle started Monday. Diabetic meds
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: No. My sister had a tumor in her uterus. But I don't think that can be hereditary

This is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

at your age of 50, you are probably having irregular periods and perimenopausal.

you should see your doctor to get blood testing to check your estrogen and FSH levels.

I bet they will show you are in a perimenopausal state and that it is common to have very irregular periods at this point.
