Customer Question

I get a milky brown discharge at the end of my menstual period. It doesn't smell bad or have any weird texture although it is slightly more thicker. I know it isn't old blood cuz it is much lighter than that. What could this be?

Hello this is Dr. Salama MD,

It sounds like you it is bacterial vaginosis.

BV does not always have a bad smell but it is usually brownish in nature and does occur more frequently at the end of a period due to the changing nature of the vaginal flora.

It can easily be treated with a topical or oral antibiotic prescribed by your doctor.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

If not, please don't forget to leave a positive rating as that's the only way I get credit for answering your question.

Thank you!
