I'm having a lot of symptoms of hypothyroidism and I have a strong family history of it. Can my birthcontrol Nortrel cause this? If I want to do tests for thyroid should I go off my pills?
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: yes, tested every 6 months but my results are normal. they put me on Xanax and zoloft
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: my dad died from complications of hashimotos and all my aunts on his side have a thyroid problem

Birth control pills can lead to various adverse effect which mimic a hypothyroid state. If you have been tested multiple time and your thyroid function tests turn out to be absolutely normal then you don't have hypothyroidism.
