I have recurring vaginal irritation at the vagina opening.

Customer Question

I have recurring vaginal irritation at the vagina opening. Doctors have diagnosed me with yeast infections, vaginitis, and contact dermatitis but the condition persists. Could it be vulvodynia and how do I treat it.

Hello, I'm Dr Manos, M.D., board certified ObGyn. Vaginal discharge and irritation can get complicated if it lingers. Sometimes there is a fine balance between normal physiology and inflammation. Vulvadynia isn't a diagnosis but fancy description of vaginal inflammation. You may need some older modes of therapy particularly with stubborn forms of yeast. Trust your doctors for now and use mild hydrocortisone 1% to blend with other meds to get things back to normal.
