My wife is 6 weeks pregnant, she had a little bit of slimy

Customer Question

Hey my wife is 6 weeks pregnant , she had a little bit of slimy discharge come out today. Brownish /pinkish , no pain associated . There wasn't very much. We know it's probably nothing but just wanted to make sure it's normal. I think like everyone else we are scared of miscarriage . Should we be worried?

Some increased discharge is pretty common in early pregnancy.

Bleeding can be worrisome, since sometimes it's the first sign of a miscarriage. However, many women have a little bleeding in early pregnancy.

Most likely she'll be fine unless she develops heavier bleeding.

An ultrasound after 6 weeks will help to know. If there is a heartbeat, then the bleeding usually doesn't mean anything. If there is no heartbeat, then it's a likely miscarriage.

So I would try to get an ultrasound when possible. Best wishes.
