Customer Question

I got a condom stuck in me (but didn't realise) and about 12 hours later started vomiting and developed a fever. Went to hospital where they ran blood and urine tests and gave me fluids then released me. About 2 days later, am feeling much better, but not perfect, condom came out of me. Now am worried I have/had TSS? What should I do?

Hello, I'm Dr M, obgyn. TSS is very rare and associated more with tampons than condoms, even a condom retained for 12 hours. Fever and vomiting probably unrelated to condom incident and the hospital gave you instructions on follow up. Fever was probably viral in origin and getting better. I don't believe you need to be concerned about the condom retention at this point.
