I'm a 50 year old woman, have always had regular periods

Customer Question

I'm a 50 year old woman, have always had regular periods like clock work. I have been in peri menopause with some night sweats for about 5 years. I turned fifty last August and in September I missed a period and again until November, I have since had periods lasting from 7-10 days, medium to heavy flow. As I'm coming up on my 51st birthday in August, my period started July 17 th and continues as if today (21 days!) Is this normal? I have no pain, can urinate fine. It varies between light to medium but hasn't stopped.

Your situation is typical with perimenopausal syndrome like absence of menstruation or sometimes heavy are also having with hot flash.HRT may be helpful for you but before that any pathology should be excluded by an ultrasound like any fibroid uterus or abnormal thickening of endometrium. Please attend one gynaecologist for this issue.
