The bowel habits are different in different people - some may need to go just once a day and some others may need to go twice or thrice.
But BM after using laxatives are different. As far as possible it is better not to use laxatives more than once a day. Laxatives will empty out the rectum ad it can take up to 24 hours for the rectum to get filled with stool again. So, once is enough.
Repeated laxative use can strain the rectal muscles and in the elderly, can cause rectal prolapse.
