I just had my pap smear earlier today and the swabs she used

Customer Question
on me to take samples...
I just had my pap smear earlier today and the swabs she used on me to take samples had blood on them (bright red). Not close to starting my monthly (that I know of) my body has never been regular. I am also not spotting or had not been the past few days leading up to the doctor's appointment although I was spotting for a day or so this past weekend. Not heavy enough to need a sanitary napkin ( but I did wear a panty liner) and the cotting was not severe enough to reschedule the appointment. By Monday night I wasn't spotting at all and I really don't remember having any menstrual cramping while spotting although I am cramping some now but each pap smear I have causes me to have some cramping discomfort. I have also not had a pap smear come back abnormal either. Should I be concerned about the bleeding that I seen during the exam?

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.
