I have had sinus infection now for 12 days. Heavy mucus

Customer Question

I have had sinus infection now for 12 days. Heavy mucus drainage, can't breathe, bad breath, and cough bad coughing. I have tried saline rinse, Tylenol and robutussin. This has not gone away and I feel miserable! My OB refused to give me anything to treat it. I understand sometimes it's viral but 12 days not better and I'm 7.5 weeks pregnant. Is there anything else I can do for this or can I take antibiotics for first trimester? Please help! Oh and my drainage has been a thick yellow mucus I've been coughing up. Drainage thick glue like.

yes, you can take penicillin or amoxicillin antibiotics while pregnant.

also benadryl allergy medications can be used to help decrease allergic symptoms

you might need Netipott to help with saline irrigation.

it does sound like you have bacterial infection in your sinuses and need a course of penicillin or amoxicillin. these are safe to take during pregnancy

let me know if you have questions.
