I am 77 years old and yesterday I found dark blood stains in my underpants . Like when I use to have as a sign that my period was starting. Today I have little spots of blood in my underpants. Not a lot ,but sort of like when you prick your finder with a needle. I have an appointment with my doctor, but he can't see me until Dec 4,2013

Dr. Owen : Hello, I am Dr Owen, I am a Board Certified Ob/Gyn Medical Doctor and I want to help you.
Dr. Owen : hello
Dr. Owen : do you still have an uterus?

Dr. Owen : Do you use any hormones?
Dr. Owen : have your Pap smears been normal?

When I had them they were normal

Dr. Owen : Great
Dr. Owen : more than likely this is due to atrophu
Dr. Owen : atrophy
Dr. Owen : which is thinning of the vaginal lining

I had a polop years ago and it was removed and was normal. Not sure I spelled right

Dr. Owen : Polyp and that can cause bleeding too.

I have a doctor's appointment on dec 4th

Dr. Owen : unlikely this is concerning so unlikely a cancer.
Dr. Owen : And you can wait until Decembers appointment

Are we finished?

Dr. Owen : So if atrophy then you would use estrogen such as Vagifem.
Dr. Owen : if you have another polyp then it should be removed.

Thanks , I felt I need an answer before Dec 4
