What do you mean by Mother-in-law problem? Was her son delivered and a molar pregnancy developed after? Thank you.

The Mother-in-law had her son (my daughter's spouse) at 28 years and that was fine and normal. She then tried again at 37 years old and had the molar problem develop so had a d and c at 3 months and never tried again.

Her son- MY son-in-law is 38 as is my daughter, his wife. Is it possible that the molar problem could be passed from his Mother through him to my daughter, his wife? ie could it effect the son's chromosomes and be passed to her in some form?

They have tried IVF twice now. Artificial insemination didn't work since he has low motility and few sperm. They do have 5 frozen total embryos from the 2 transfer procedures- both of which failed.(tested after 10 days) My daughter had 32-37 eggs each time. The ones they froze were allowed to develop to the 6th day before freezing. Her brother, my son, has had 2 children very easily as they planned.(he is 2 1/2 years younger)

Leads to next thought- could the longer developed ones possibly be of better quality for transfer?

We don't understand completely why molar pregnancies occur, but as far as we know, there are no problems that might be transferred to children whose mother has had a molar pregnancy. I don't think the molar pregnancy has any bearing on your daughter's and son-in-law's sperm or fertility problem. It's more likely related to your daughter's age, since success rates for IVF depend greatly on the woman's age.
As for the timing of embryo freezing, it's a complicated topic. In the earlier years of IVF, embryos were frozen at 2-3 days, and now it appears more successful to freeze them a little later. There are reasons favoring earlier or later freezing of the embryos. The people who run IVF labs are expert at determining when is the best time to freeze an embryo.

what other variables could you suggest my daughter ask about?

eg: just heard about blood clot possibility

can they test for chromosome problems?

what I am looking for are things she would have no idea to ask about not being a Dr.

The conditions associated with blood clotting include antiphospholipid syndrome and increased coagulation syndromes. They are unlikely to be the cause of the pregnancy losses, but they are a possibility. They're all treated with either low dose aspirin or heparin, a blood thinner. Most miscarriages are due to chromosomal problems, but I don't think looking for them makes any difference.
