I have been having yellow vinegar smelling vaginal discharge

This answer was rated:

I have been having yellow vinegar smelling vaginal discharge for the past 6 weeks every day and am a bit worried. I have not had sex in over 4 months and have not had this problem before. I have no itchiness or redness. I have been getting occasional lower abdomen pain. I had been on the depo injection for 5 1/2 years and only just stopped taking it in September. The discharge started about 1 week before my first period after ceasing the depo injection. While on the depo injection I only had my period about 3 times. Could this be causing this discharge? It seems to be worse when I am exercising or running around at work. If I am sleeping or relaxing at home there is still slight discharge but not as much as when I am active. I had a cervical polyp removed around 2 years ago. Could it be possible I have cervical polyps again?
Hello, and I am pleased to help, use of my answers are for educational purposes only.
This is probably BV - bacterial vaginosis which is essentially YOUR own vaginal bacteria that overgrows due to a vaginal pH imbalance. We usually prescribe antibiotics for this such as Flagyl or Cleocin, but you can try an over the counter product such as RepHresh or Acidophilus / Lactobacillis.
Cervical polyps will not cause this.
