No, you do NOT need any birth control and if you are still having periods at the age of 57 I would definitely get this 'bleeding' evaluated, but at the age of 57, you do not have any 'viable' eggs, and you probably are not ovulating any eggs each month.

if you are still using birth control pills, this is why you are still having periods too.
