Hello,
Have you already had an ultrasound of your adnexa (your uterus and ovaries)?
And, what were the results if you had this done already?

I'v had bloodwork , an x-ray and a ct scan with an iv contrast plus a milky drink 45 minutes before the ct scan. I just want to know a couple of treatments for this condition. I have been in pain for over 4 weeks now.

Hello,
Just want to make sure - the pain is in your pelvis, correct?
Any family history of ovarian, breast or colon cancer?

the pain is in the pelvic area. No history in family of ovarian, breast or colon cancer.
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Owen, OB/GYN (Doctor) replied 8 years ago
Hello,
Actually, you need a Pelvic Ultrasound- a MRI really is NOT sufficient and does NOT help to identify what is needed exactly. We as ob/gyn's use the ultrasound to look at the ovaries and the uterus. Usually cystic adnexal lesions in menopausal women are ovarian cysts and what needs to be ruled out is cancer of the ovaries - although there is a low possibility given your family history, it does need to be ruled out, and there are certain things we look for on an ultrasound that a MRI can NOT pick up - so have your primary order an Ultrasound of your pelvis.
Now, if you have any ovarian cysts whether or not it is cancer - the treatment is surgery - removal of the ovaries and we also usually remove the uterus too in a menopausal woman.
