I took a pregnancy test a week ago and it was faintly positive. Since I found it hard to believe I took another test today. It was an even fainter line than before. I have had pregnancy symptoms, but I'm just not sure what to think. Is it likely that I'm pregnant?

Hello,
When was your period do?

I haven't had a cycle since my last baby was born 13 months ago.
OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Owen, OB/GYN (Doctor) replied 8 years ago
Hello,
This could very well be an early pregnancy - and sometimes you have to wait until 21 days after ovulation to have a full line - but to be sure, if you can have your doctor do a blood quantitative HCG pregnancy test today and then again in 48 hours.
Ask Your Own OB GYN Question
Customer reply replied 8 years ago

I guess the question was the fact that the second test was lighter than the first. Would that indicate dropping hcg levels?

OB GYN Doctor: Dr. Owen, OB/GYN (Doctor) replied 8 years ago
Hello,
Not necessarily - the ONLY way to tell is with 2 consecutive quantitive HCG pregnancy test separated by 48 hours, OR if eventually you have a negative pregnancy test.

How likely is it that the first positive was wrong?
Customer reply replied 8 years ago

Thank you. I guess that didn't help much, but it did answer the question I asked.
