Okay Thanks for the reply Scott sir,
I understand the issue you're facing with your Nissan Altima, that it makes an whining sound when you start it up, this issue can have the following causes:

Fan belt interacting with some other element or part
Timing chain issue
Fuel pump noise

To sort the issue out, I suggest you the following steps:

Make sure that the fuel pump is not making unwanted sound, if making replace it, as you say it makes sound only when the car start, the pump may be faulty.
Secondly if the issue is not with fuel pump, then check the fan belt it may be interacting with some other parts.
Also Scott sir, check that the power steering pump is not making the noise as these issue are also due to faulty power steering pump.
As for the exhaust leaks you'll have to examine the whole exhaust, I suggest you to loo after the joints more carefully.
