The transmission was replaced prior to me receiving the car from a junkyard. It had a code 1776 for the stepper motor so I replaced it. Car will pull good in forward and reverse now but doesn’t “shift”. Speedo doesn’t work either so I think it may be speed sensor but they are 100 so I figured I would search further

That is really not a good code. There is a P1777 & P1745, but no P1776. Did you clear the codes after the transmission was replaced?

Speedo only jumped here and there so I think it may not know how fast the car is going so it won’t shift?

If your getting a P1778, that code normally requires the Transmission to be replaced. If you had a used Transmission installed, it could be that the transmission is defective. But you should have warranty from the junk yard you got it from so they can get you another one. But you may have to pay the labor again.

I want to fix this one. I know it’s common to just replace these but that’s not an option here

I am a repair shop and the trans was from a pull a part. Not my choice but it what I have to work with. I read the tab and it mentions the speed sensors but I was mainly inquiring about the most common fix of said code( other than replace).

Nissan does not have us open these up. They don't give us any information on the internals. So if there are particular codes, they only want the unit replaced.

The reason is cause there are special tools that cost way to much to supply each dealer with the tools. So it's on a reman program only.

Unfortunately this doesn’t help much. Is there a way to get my money back since this didn’t end with a good answer(not really your fault). Hard to be an expert on something if you never really fix it. Kinda like telling someone to buy a new car as a fix for theirs being broken.
