Customer Question
My 2005 Nissan Altima...

My 2005 Nissan Altima started showing that it was overheating out of nowhere. Checked thermostat, relays, fuses, etc. and it started showing everything was ok. When I tried to drive it, I had no power when I accelerated. Codes pulled p1122 p0507 and p1126. I have tried 2 of the relearn procedures with no improvement. Throttle body has been replaced. Any thoughts?

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the power loss consistent, or does it fluctuate?

It will increase but when ok not quite reach 2000rpm

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Altima yourself? What have you tried so far?

My husband is a mechanic and has been fixing it. Relays, fuses changed, new throttle body installed, changed battery, relearn procedures, sensor checks and changes. I am his assistant so I have been working with him. We also realized that there may have been an issue because of the pedal covers that we had applied so we removed them and retried the relearn procedures another 700 times

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Not that I can think of.

Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

First lets start with these codes you are getting. These are all Throttle Chamber codes. Where did you get the Electronic throttle chamber you installed? Did you clear the codes after you replaced it and these codes returned?

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
From another engine that I replaced. The replacement throttle was brand new. Codes were cleared and the relearn procedures were performed....a lot. Still no change in acceleration.
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I have not cleared the codes since I removed the pedal covers though. I just did that and then the relearn procedures.

Pedal covers?

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Racing pedal covers that are installed after market.
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
Thought that it may have had an impact on the relearn procedures
Nissan Mechanic: Jay, Nissan Technician replied 8 months ago

Oh.. That won't do anything.. But you do need to clear the codes after repair for the idle relearn to properly take..

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Nissan Mechanic: Jay, Nissan Technician replied 8 months ago

So if you do not have a scanner to erase codes, you can also erase codes by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 mins. Then connecting it. After you connect it. Then you want to the idle relearn steps.

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
I did clear the codes as stated above. I erased them using my ODB II scanner, not by removing the negative battery cable. I then did the relearn procedure and still no change. There are 2 relearn procedures that were done . Perhaps you can enlighten me as to what the actual correct procedure is.
Nissan Mechanic: Jay, Nissan Technician replied 8 months ago

Are these the same exact codes before you replaced the throttle chamber? You said you put a used throttle chamber on right?

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
These are the same codes. My husband actually did install a brand new throttle body in addition to the other one that I referenced above.
Nissan Mechanic: Jay, Nissan Technician replied 8 months ago

Ok.. Hang on.. Then you may have a harness issue. Let me review the service manual for you.. Hang on..

So it's looking like this could be a wiring issue. How handy is your husband? I provide you with the diagnostic steps to go through the circuit do you think he can do it?

Ask Your Own Nissan Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
My husband is a mechanic. I can also go through the circuit. I saw a notice about the harness on the left side near the wiper pivot that may be impacted also.
Nissan Mechanic: Jay, Nissan Technician replied 8 months ago
Yeah, I have seen that harness get chaffed but that harness won't effect throttle normally. The harness in question is the EGI harness or the IPDM.
