My nissan altima hybrid...

My nissan altima hybrid is not responding to my electronic key . Could it be needed to reprogram?

Mechanic's Assistant: Is the key stripped or worn?

No

Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Altima Hybrid?

2011

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Altima Hybrid yourself? What have you tried so far?

Nothing. I just placed a new CR2032 energizer battery in the key

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

This happened all of a sudden. Initially a red car sign with a key image was flickering on the dashboard . Currently that sign is off .

Also, please be sure the battery was installed in the right direction. (face down) where you can't see the numbers.

If the headlights will not come on, then the 12v battery is dead. They do not require ignition operation to function.
