Drained some trans fluid out of the trans and no owners

Customer Question

drained some burnt trans fluid out of the trans and no owners manual was sold with the car. once i found the dipstick and got it off it was only one inch long. do i truly fill it that far up the fill tube?
JA: When was the last time your transmission fluid was checked? Changed?
Customer: not since I've owned it for two years
JA: What is the model/year of your Nissan?
Customer: 2012 versa
JA: Are you fixing your Versa yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yep. drained the fluid and it smelt burnt. just need to know if i fill it to that 1" dipstick level and how much it will take?
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: and the kind of fluid to add
