My check engine light is on due to the fuel sensor issue

Customer Question

My check engine light is on due to the fuel sensor issue many other Nissan owners have reported. However, my gas gauge is fine. It reads full when I fill the tank and seems to be accurate all the way down to 1/8 tank or less. Should I be concerned?
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: It stays on.
JA: What is the model/year of your Nissan?
Customer: 2006 Frontier, King Cab.
JA: Are you fixing your Frontier yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have not tried anything. One owner claims you can leave the key in the ignition during refueling, and the light goes off. Another owner claims he got the light to go off by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or so.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I don't think so. My vehicle is otherwise running fine.

Not all problems that you read about have the same cure, your best bet is to have your vehicle professionally diagnosed to see why your light is on. You can have a defective sensor, a circuit issue or a computer issue including a re-flash update.

Thanks, Ron
