My 06 Nissan Frontier died while pulling into a parking lot.

Customer Question

my 06 Nissan Frontier died while pulling into a parking lot. It does not crank over. All lights are good. I am a Subaru engine builder with an electronic engineering degree so I know a little about relays and electronics. I swapped the ECM relay with the fog light relay and nothing. I swapped the starter relay in the same manner and still nothing. Thoughts?
JA: How many miles are on the car? Has the car been starting normally?
Customer: about 250,000 kms which is 160,000 miles
JA: Are you fixing your Frontier yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes Im going to tackle it. I was going to start with some simple stuff like clutch switch and and tracing power to the IPDM board and check the fuses more thoroughly. Haven't pulled the car into my shop yet. Its rather cold here to doi much more diagnostics in the cold.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No thats it.

Hi my name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist with this today. In some cases I may need more info to assist better.I apologize for any delay.

Is the scan tool powering up at all with the key on?Are you using a fully compatible scan tool with this model here?

Let me know so we can continue, thanks Pete.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It is a generic bluetooth enabled scantool. I have used it on this particular vehicle several times with no issues. I scanned both of my Subarus immediately, with success, when I had this communication issue to ensure it wasn't a software or bluetooth communication error.

I can check pin 16 for power to confirm?
Expert:  peterpete190 replied 10 months ago.

It looks like pin 8 with key on should have power and 16 with key on or off.Let me know if you have power on these 2.

Thanks Pete
