Hello my name is ***** ***** thank you for your question.

What brand battery are you getting? and where are you getting it for your remote?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I really don't remember the brand...I got it at at advanced auto parts
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

I would get a battery from a CVS or local convenient store and try getting a name brand battery. Then see if that works. You don't know how long those batteries have been on the shelf at Advanced. CVS has a much better turn around which are more likely to have good fresh batteries.

Give that a try and let me know how you make out.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
but we had the battery tested at a local 'battery' store...they said it was fine
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Do you have another remote you can try the battery in?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
no is it possible the battery is some how defective in some way? or that it is not communicating with the computer in the car? a mechanic told us to put the fob into that bottom slot (the one with the lights that come on when battery is low and when you put key in you can still start the car) and maybe it will kick it and communicate with the computer that causes the warning
light for low battery in the dash???
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

I am asking to try a battery from a different vendor and see if that helps. If the car is reading the key, it does check the status of the battery and if the battery is weak what so ever it puts that half bar up.

Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

There is no special function for the battery level. It's all part of the push button start system

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
ok I will try that and be in touch....can not do it today...but will 1st chance I get...tomorrow is currently with a family member. Do I just log back in and am able to talk with you?
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Yes, to return back, just log back into and go to My Questions to return

Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Ok.. Just let me know how you make out

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
my car is in rhode island right now being used by a family member
so not sure when they will get to change the battery again
they are putting the key in the slot on the bottom of the dash at
this point and not having a problem
actually they told me the lights near the slot are no longer on
odd right??
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

I thought the light for the fob slot lite up when the car was attempted to start when nothing was in the slot?

Anyway, keep me posted after you change the remote battery

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
the lights on side of where fob slides in were lit...but no longer
its really wierd
does the fob being in the slot maybe let it communicate with the computer
and maybe the computer now recognizes the battery has been changed?
We rarely would put the fob in the slot typically.
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Yes, you can literally take the battery out of the remote and stick the remote into the fob slot and it will start the car.

So I am glad you finally changed the remote battery and it's working properly.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No we did not change the battery
its the same battery....
we just put the fob (with the battery in it) into the slot
after using the car like that for 2-3 days the lights near the
slot went out and the pic of the key on the dash suddenly
not appearing.....
thats why I asked...does the fob w/battery put in the slot
help the computer to recognize the battery has been changed???We have changed the battery prior to this and never had this
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

The remote battery has no affect how the remote is read in the fob slot.

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
well there has been no additional issue
not sure what it was
have not changed the battery at all
Expert:  Jay replied 11 months ago.

Everything is working now?
